John Leguizamo Boycotts SNL: Trump Hosting Is ‘Hurtful and Insulting’

Actor John Leguizamo tells Yahoo News in a new interview that he is boycotting Saturday Night Live because he finds the show’s hosting invitation to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump “hurtful and insulting.”

Trump is scheduled to host SNL on Nov. 7, and despite a number of boycotts and a bounty intended to disrupt the sketch comedy show by Hispanic groups and immigration activists, Trump’s appearance on SNL is moving forward and is expected to deliver big ratings to NBC.

In a wide-ranging interview with “Yahoo News Live” host Brianna Golodryga on Wednesday, Leguizamo, a Colombian-born actor and comedian, said NBC’s invitation of Trump to host a full episode is “unacceptable.”

“If he had said those things about any other ethnic group he would not be on that SNL. I mean I find SNL to do that and NBC. I find it really insulting. I find it hurtful and insulting and you’re celebrating somebody who has said some horrible things. I find it unacceptable. I will not watch,” said Leguizamo. “I won’t watch SNL anymore.”

He added: “What he says doesn’t even fall into the category of PC. It is hatemongering. I hope what I do in my work is not denigrating or belittling.”

The actor also told Yahoo that Sen. Marco Rubio is on the “wrong side.”

“Latin people for Republicans are like roaches for Raid,” he said.

Leguizamo joins other Hispanic stars upset over Trump’s immigration and border security proposals.

Tuesday, Oscar-winning director Alejandro González Iñárritu and actor Diego Luna joined dozens of other Hispanic cultural leaders in signing a letter criticizing Trump for “hate speech.”

The group claimed Trump is encouraging “physical aggressions against Hispanics.”

Other groups have also ramped up pressure on NBC over the SNL gig.

Radical pro-amnesty group Deport Racism is offering $5,000 in “cold, hard cash” to anyone who disrupts Trump’s SNL appearance by yelling, “Trump is a racist!”
