Nikole Hannah-Jones: Push to Ban 1619 Project from Being Taught in Schools ‘Is Fundamentally a Free Speech Issue’

Monday on CNN’s “New Day,” New York Times writer and “1619 Project” creator Nikole Hannah-Jones sounded off on Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) leading a group of senators in calling on the Biden administration to withdraw the “1619 Project” from federal grant programs. McConnell in a letter described the curriculum as “politicized” and “divisive.”

Thursday on CNN’s “New Day,” critical race theorist Ibram X. Kendi, author and contributing writer for The Atlantic, wondered what would have happened in Columbus, OH if Ma’Khia Bryant had been a “16-year-old white girl in a wealthy suburban neighborhood. Bryant was shot and killed by police after she appeared to attack another person with a knife.

Dem Rep. Ruiz: Biden Hasn’t Done ‘Enough’ to Address Border Crisis

Wednesday on CNN’s “New Day,” Rep. Raul Ruiz (D-CA) sounded off on President Joe Biden’s efforts to address the crisis at the United States’ southern border with Mexico. The White House has told immigrants “don’t come now, come later,” which seems to have gone largely ignored as a surge of immigrants continue to reach the border daily.

Fauci: Lifting Mask Mandates ‘Inviting’ Another Surge

White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci voiced his concern Wednesday with states lifting mask mandates and relaxing health measures at this point in the coronavirus pandemic where cases seem to be dropping dramatically across the country. The recent drop in cases is in part due to three different COVID-19 vaccines being rolled out in recent months.
